.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Friday)

An upper low pressure system currently near the Four Corners Region
will move to the High Plains Thursday morning, providing southwest
flow over Arkansas. The low will move to the east Thursday to
northern Missouri by Friday morning. As the upper low moves to the
east, northwest flow will return to Arkansas Friday afternoon.

A warm front across Texas and Louisiana will provide the focus for
overrunning precipitaiton over Arkansas tonight through Friday. Rain
chances will increase this evening, and then rain will continue
through Thursday evening. Heavy rain will be the main concern with 1
to 3 inch amounts common and higher amounts possible. The highest
rainfall amounts will be in the northwest half of the state
Thursday where a Flood Watch continues. There is also a Marginal
Risk of severe thunderstorms in the south half of the state. The
main threats will be damaging winds and large hail. A cold front
will push the rain out of the area Thursday evening. Above normal
temperatures are expected for Thursday and Friday.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday Night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 213 PM CST Wed Jan 29 2025

Fairly benign conditions are expected through the weekend and into

A front may sag south toward the state by the middle of next week
which could provide slightly cooler temperatures, but otherwise
temperatures will be well above normal through the period.
Additionally, there is no mention of POPs/QPF until at least
Wednesday.
